EXPOSED
SUNBATHING COLLECTIVE
MANIFESTO
We are Exposed
Our bodies are Exposed
Exposed to the male gaze
Exposed to spectacularization
Exposed to the climate crisis

We turn exposed into exposure
We turn attention into advocacy
We turn sunbathing into a statement
We expose ourselves to expose the truth

While you look at our hot bodies,
Let us tell you, the planet is even hotter
Our garments are filled with science and
silent screams about soaring temperatures

While we are lying here, try to feel the
summer slumber gently numbing you
Our politicians and corporations are stuck in it
Their inaction is burning us

This is a crisis of ridiculous inequality
Polluting as they fly, consume, destruct
Some enjoy sunbathing in the scorching sun
While others are slowly suffocated by it

Let us remind you of something
Our fragile bodies are an intricate part of nature
Like plants, we are drunk on sun, water, air
None of us can breathe on a planet that is dead

While we are lying here, let us rest
We are burned out from years of protesting
Let us feel the warmth of the sun on our skin
As a reminder of how bewildering this earth can be

We will sunbathe lightheartedly
In the airport, on the beach, on the doorsteps
of the Parliament, in the park, on the streets
Our sunbathing will be a striking spectacle

So come and lie down with us
Now we are not going anywhere
We are Exposed
